Three Steps
Repot
Rinse the soil off the roots and set the plant in Grava. About ten minutes, once.
Fill
Pour water into the opening until the red gauge reads MAX.
Refill
When the gauge drops, fill again. Every three to four weeks for most plants.
What to expect in the first month
Some fine roots will drop when you rinse the soil off. That's normal. The plant grows new water roots into the Grava over two to three weeks. Refill once or twice in that first stretch while the substrate hydrates, then settle into the monthly rhythm. Never fill past MAX.
Why no soil
No gnats, no compaction, no overwatering, no guessing when to water.
Grava is lava rock and tree fern fiber. The rock wicks and keeps air around the roots; the fiber holds moisture and feeds the plant for about a year. Refresh the top layer yearly.

It can stick sometimes; jiggle it if you think it may be stuck especially on the first fill.
