Water Level
A discreet indicator displays the water level so you know exactly when it's time to refill.
Every Plantwell planter runs on a hidden reservoir and Grava, a soil-free substrate of lava rock and tree fern fiber. Set it up once and the planter takes care of the daily watering.
Rinse the soil off the roots and set the plant in Grava. About ten minutes, once.
Pour water into the opening until the red gauge reads MAX.
When the gauge drops, fill again. Every three to four weeks for most plants.
Some fine roots will drop when you rinse the soil off. That's normal. The plant grows new water roots into the Grava over two to three weeks. Refill once or twice in that first stretch while the substrate hydrates, then settle into the monthly rhythm. Never fill past MAX.
WHAT'S INSIDE?
A discreet indicator displays the water level so you know exactly when it's time to refill.
Torrey and Leucadia hand thrown artisan stoneware.
A hidden reservoir delivers steady hydration for weeks at a time.
Grown in porous lava rock to promote healthy roots and reduce pests.
An integrated system that provides consistent moisture to the plant when it needs it.
No gnats, no compaction, no overwatering, no guessing when to water.
Grava is lava rock and tree fern fiber. The rock wicks and keeps air around the roots; the fiber holds moisture and feeds the plant for about a year. Refresh the top layer yearly.
Refill rhythm
First few refills
While the Grava soaks up water and the plant settles in.
After that
Bigger, thirstier plants and sunny windows land at the shorter end.
Before a Grava top-up
Grava feeds the plant for about a year, then top it up with a refill.
Tap water is fine.
Cacti and most succulents, and anything that wants to dry out completely between waterings.

It can stick sometimes; jiggle it if you think it may be stuck especially on the first fill.
